MoLi, short for Mona Lisa, is a mixed media painting done on paper. It’s a portrait of a young woman with a low cut tank top in motion. She Can be seen moving up and to the right without engaging the viewer.
I played the idea of the Mona Lisa’s portrait of a woman mixed with a contemporary look.
A visual representation that would include, even if simply by hinting at, the influences of social media, the new world of technology, and the infamous drug culture young adults find themselves dealing with on a daily basis.
I recycled an image from social media of a young woman with a very low cut tank top that displays her cleavage and loosely played with the idea of the worlds most famous and valuable portrait.
The title MoLi, is a reference to the the popular rave drug ‘Molly’ aka ‘Ecstasy’ or simply MDMA.
